We are just getting stuck into digging post-medieval rubbish pits. There are plenty of them to dig, most of them are quite sizeable (over a metre deep) and they are distributed in a high density over the western part of the site so far exposed. Since they are intercutting, they can be quite difficult to spot; indeed, to be honest, you are sometimes never entirely sure whether you are making things up – this being commercial archaeology, you rarely have time enough to ponder things properly. It can be very frustrating and writing things like this gets in the way!
