David’s contexts (1298) and (1299)

The removal of modern debris and backfill from the construction cut associated with Context: 1268 revealed a partly truncated cremation urn Context: 1298 in a section of pit fill Context: 1285 tilted north by about 40 degrees.

David’s context (1298) and (1299)

Further examination unearthed the remains of a human skull (1299) set upside down facing east and towards the urn. Both objects appeared redeposited, as no cut is visible in the surrounding fill whatsoever. In fact the skull is directly beneath the modern construction cut and could have concievably been in with the modern backfill rather than just part of the original back fill…
