L – P : Archaeology
Cornelius Barton
Cornelius is the Field Officer for the archaeological works at the Felpham site, and is responsible for the on-site fieldwork. He works closely with other members of the archaeological team and the developer, Barratt David Wilson Homes, to ensure that the archaeology is dealt with suitably. Cornelius is currently preparing the reports detailing the early phases of development.
John Duffy
John is the Project Manager for the Felpham project. His role is to ensure that adequate provision is made for both the archaeological remains and the archaeological staff on-site. This requires liaising with all involved parties, including the developer, Barratt David Wilson, the local authority, Arun District Council, and their archaeological advisors, West Sussex County Council.
Mike Shaw
Mike is one of the newer members of the L – P : Archaeology team, and is currently the on-site Archaeologist at Felpham. His role is to monitor the excavations associated with the development and to ensure that any archaeological remains encountered are preserved in situ. Where it is not possible, Mike’s role is to excavate and record the archaeology, in order to understand what was there.
Jessica Ogden
Jessica is a member of L – P’s Digital Department and is in charge of geomatic surveying of the site, and for the design, implementation and upkeep of the project website. Her role is to oversee as well as conduct the on-site surveys of the spatial data pertaining the project, as well as use this data to then create maps and figures of the ongoing work for reports and publications.
Steven Campion
Steven is in charge of the artefacts and ecofacts once they have been brought off site. It is his role to get the finds ready for appraisals and assessments, and to liase with the relevant specialists. As an environmental specialist himself, Steven will be directly in charge of the environmental material and will process and assess the environmental samples recovered from the site.
