Description

    • Fill of 16th 17th c. pit. This fill might be that of a latrine pit - we'll have to see whether the environmental sample results are consistant with this. the shape of the pit 1945 in which this sits also suggests this function.

  • clayey silt (20:80)
  • Moderate shell- occa. pot, bone, Fe, CU, CBM, moderate charcoal and rounded to sub-angular flint pebbles (up to 0.10m) occa. mortar fragments and lenses of ash (up to 50mm) and lenses of sand (up to 50mm)
  • 1.3m EW, 1.15m NS, 0.85m thick
  • Cut by modern intrusion to NE. Sealed by modern overburden and possibly partially truncated by test pits dug from above.
