- Ditch cut [1940], that was dug into (1948), sampled as <223>, which formed the fill of pit cut [1949]. The mixed fill of this pit indicated that it was a refuse pit, which was dug into the natural gravels and was one of the earliest features in this area of the site.

- Three pot sherds were recovered from the fill of this pit, all of which were dated to 70-160AD.
