Subgroup Narrative Text

    • In an area of heavy truncation [1669] was dug into (1780), the fill of a Roman quarry pit [1779], that held (1778), a redeposited cremation urn. At the base of the urn base of cremation with burnt human bone adhering was observed and elements of the same pot-widely scattered around the upper fill. A modern concrete footing had also truncated aspects of the pit on its E side, [1779] was dug into deposit (1744).

Dating Narrative

    • A total of 16 pot sherds were recovered from fill (1780), all of which were dated to 120-140AD.
