Subgroup Narrative Text

    • Sealed by (228), context (229) formed the primary fill of [230], a north south aligned Roman ditch that was cut into redeposited gravels (258). The ditch probably functioned as a boundary marker for the cemetery.

Dating Narrative

    • No datable finds were recovered from (229), the primary fill of ditch [230], but finds from the later fills of this ditch were broadly dated to 50-400AD, and stratigraphically below this ditch was (1645), the fill of quarry pit [1644], dated to 120-160AD.
