Subgroup Narrative Text

    • Underlying the modern overburden lay (938), a mixed Post-Medieval rubble backfill that was deposited after the abandonment of the soakaway. The soak-away itself, {936}, contained construction cut backfill (940), and fills (991), a cessy, waste fill, which overlay (992), the primary fill of soak-away {936}, which was built into construction cut [937], that was dug into layer (945).

Dating Narrative

    • Two sherds were recovered from construction cut fill (940), one of which was dated to 1480-1600AD, and the other being residual dated to 1270-1350AD. Two further sherds were recovered from (991) and were dated to 1520-1600AD.
