Subgroup Narrative Text

    • [1265] was dug into (958) a large deposit believed to form part of the leveling process required as a result of the earlier excavation of the quarry face recorded in subgroup 209. This deposit contained the remains of four disturbed cremation urns. Each given a small find No. Grid coordinates and level, and put on plan (961) with associated objects Nos <15> <16> <17> <18>. This fill also contained moderate amounts of pot, CBM, and occasional animal bone, Fe objects, cremated bone, large chunks of chalk and very occasional mortar, and small stones; so was a mixed dumped deposit.

Dating Narrative

    • This large mixed dumped deposit contained 71 pot sherds all of which were dated to 250-400 AD.
