Dating Narrative

    • The mixed fill of this pit contained pot sherds of contrasting dates. Five Roman pot sherds were found, all dated to 50-160AD. One Medieval pot sherd dated to 1270-1350AD was found. And three sherds dated to 1550-1600AD were also recovered. The Post Medieval and Medieval pot sherds are seen as intrusive, and the pit is seen as Roman in date.
