Subgroup Narrative Text

    • 17th century rubbish pit [581] was dug into (575), the latest fill in a series of deposits that filled quarry pit [576]. underlying (575) was (651), (652), and primary fill (653), and these latter three fills were comparatively sterile when looked at against (575). Therefore they were seen as being deposited from a different source material, and likely to be of a differnt function. Context (575) is seen as a capping layer in pit cut [576].

Dating Narrative

    • A total of 46 pot sherds were recovered from (575), of these seven were dated to 1400-1500AD, and 39 were dated to 1480-1600AD. The earlier sherds are seen as residual.
