Subgroup Narrative Text

    • 17th century rubbish pit [581] was dug into (575), subgroup 143, the latest fill in a series of deposits that filled quarry pit [576]. underlying (575), a series of relatively sterile fills, being, (651), (652), and primary fill (653). None of these fills produced datable finds. Pit cut [576] was dug into (573), the upper fill of [574].

Dating Narrative

    • None of the lower fills in this pit produced datable material. However the latest fill of this pit, (575) which is set as subgroup 143 produced pottery dated to 1480-1600AD, and the pit that [576] was cut into (subgroup 141) yeilded pottery dated to 1550-1600AD.
