Group Description

    • Pit [1263] held primary fill (1260) and secondary fill (1262). This pit was located in an area with many truncations from intercutting pits, and this feature had been truncated by pit [1213] to the north. The cut of this pit was seemingly left open for some time before it was back filled. Pit cut [1263] cut into (1220), the fill of small pit [1221]. Context (1220), the fill of small pit [1221], was dug into (1242), the fill of [1243], a Roman pit. The feature was heavily truncated, and its function was uncertain. It was dug into (1218), one of the leveling layers used to reclaim the land after the excavation of the quarry face/pit recorded in subgroup 209.
