  • Sub Group: PCO06_673
    • Cut and fill of pit

Group Description

    • In an area of heavy truncation, two refuse pits formed this small group. Fill [2123] was dug into (2113), sampled as <264>, was the clayey silt fill of square cut [2114], that was dug into the natural gravels of the site area and was one of the earliest features in this area of the site. This heavy truncation had further affected the other pit, which was (1951) the fill of pit cut [1950]. Deposit (1951) was a mixed fill with shell, bone, and fragmented CBM, a typically mixed fill of a refuse deposit, and in the context of the site, possibly Roman. Due to the heavy truncation on the site area, this pit was the only feature in this area of the site and was cut into the natural gravels.
