An antiquarian is someone that is interested in antiquities, archaeology and history and is a term frequently used to refer to 18th and 19th century collectors of antiquties, members of learned societies or those that founded the discipline of archaeology.

The Society of Antiquaries was founded in London in 1707, to further the study and knowledge of the past in England and other countries. Fellows of the Sociey are well-repected international archaeologists and historians, and it is based in Burilington House, Piccadilly.
