Description

    • Some debate regarding whether to record this as masonry or not. It is, essentially, the foundation fill of a tomb/mausoleum. Could have been broken down into separate conetxts but time restraints didn't allow this. The gravely deposit directly beneath the tiles running down the central axis contained a lot of burnt bone. This was 100% sampled (Sample #218). A few nails recovered and locations planned possible indication of wooden substructure or coffin. Tiles dated to AD. 50 -160. (Dimension of tiles 400mmx275mmx35mm) According to evaluation report
