- Layer (1983) also overlay (2023) the moderately mixed fill of [2024], that was probably a refuse pit, and (2153), the fill of [2154], a truncated pit cut that was dug into the natural gravels of the site area. The function of these pits is indicated by their mixed fills.

Dating Information

- The datable material recovered from the fills of these pits has been dated to 50-200AD. Stratigraphically this feature is seen as being at the latter half of this time scale, and so is seen as Roman II/III.
