Subgroup Narrative Text

    • Linear cut [1922] and small pit cut [1924] were dug into (1930), the upper fill of pit [1931], that also contained primary fill (1932). Deposit (1930) was seen as a capping layer dumped over mixed refuse deposit (1932). Cut [1931] was dug into (1905), the secondary fill of pit cut [1943].

Dating Narrative

    • A total of 11 pot sherds were recovered from the fill of this pit, all of which were dated to 120-140AD. This is earlier than the sherds dated from underlying deposit (1932), which were dated to 150-300AD. This indicates that (1930) was dug from another area of the site and deposited on top of (1932) to act as a capping layer.
