Subgroup Narrative Text

    • Underlying the modern overburden was (1904), the waste and rubble fill of [1895] the rubbish pit cut that also held (1894), and both of these deposits were seen as later deposits to level of the area of the pit. Underlying (1894) lay (1903), the primary fill of pit cut [1895]. In an area of heavy truncation, [1895] was dug into Roman (1874) the fill of pit [1873].

Dating Narrative

    • No datable finds were recovered from the fills of this pit, but given its stratigraphic position and the nature of the rubble inclusions it is seen as Late Post Medieval.
