Group Description

    • In an area of heavy truncation, underlying the modern overburden lay (1969), the fill of pit cut [1970]. The mixed nature of the fill of [1970] suggest this was a refuse pit, which was dug into (1968), the fill of [1989]. Context (1968) held limited cultural, the most notable of which was charcoal; but despite the limited inclusions, these pits were seen as refuse pits. Cut [1989] was cut into the natural gravels of the site area.

    • No datable materials were recovered from these pits, but given their stratigraphic positions, they are seen as Roman.
