Description

- Deposit at first suspected to be fill of Roman grave due to presence of longbone protruding from section left by removal of (1310). However, on closer inspection the bone proved to be solitary, although well-preserved (which strongly implies that it wasn't part of a decomposed skeleton). No convincing cut was found besides, so this interpreted to be a dump of homogenous material, perhaps derived from quarrying, incorporating disarticulated human rmains. From its stratigraphic position, it would appear to be Roman.

- light to mid-brownish yellow
- clayey sandy silt (20:30:50)
- Frequent angular to very rounded flint pebbles (up to 75mm). Occasional disarticulated bone.
- 1.3m NS, 0.95cm EW, Up to 0.20m thick lensing out to N, S and E.
- Scaled by dusty gravel deposit (). Truncated by walls (1310) to W. NB. Planned on sheet for 555/95 only.
