Description

    • This is a drain that runs down towards the silt-trap, slightly sloping to aid the passage of water. It lies within construction cut [605] and is probably contemporary with the silt-trap {606} and the pip {607} heading into the horn core pit to the North.

  • Bricks, re-used tile
  • Bricks: 220 mm length, 100 mm width, 70 mm depth Tiles: Varying, though approx. 160 mm wide, 210 mm length, 20 mm thick
  • Regular
  • From the little that is clear , towards the north end of this feature the higher course appears to be made up of stretchers while the bottom course is made up of headers. The tiles are arranged to provide at flat even surface between two faces,sloping gradually.
  • Drain leading to silt-trap.
  • The inner faces are facing East and West.
  • A small amount of light whitish grey grainy mortar appears to be between the bricks, though predominantly on the top course. The bottom courses appear to have similar deposit as (610) between them.
  • 2.23 m in length, 0.8 m width, 0.19 m in depth
  • Towards the South of the feature it is heavily truncated by modern.
