Webdesign
Our approach to web design has evolved steadily since L – P first became involved in the field in 1999.
Our basic philosophy has always been that archaeological websites need not be ugly and difficult to navigate. Certainly back in 1999 the vast majority of archaeological websites were very ugly making extensive use of gif animations of trowels and the like.
We have become increasingly interested in standards compliance, which we now regard to be fundamental to good webdesign. In addition, our skills have now expanded to encompass complex database driven websites.
As we see it today, a great website should include the following:
- Beautiful Simple Clean design
- Elegant structure based on XHTML and CSS
- Strict standards compliance
In addition, our company philosophy adds the following points to this:
- Seamless integration of spatial data into our webpages (online GIS)
- In depth understanding of client requirements
- Working with the latest data exchange formats
- Commitment to Opensource development
- Design of interfaces that are intuitive and easy to use
- Combination of IT and archaeological understanding in equal measure
