Mitigation
The type and extent of archaeological mitigation required by a local authority will vary depending on the nature of the archaeology on site.
L – P : Archaeology has an experienced team of project managers, field officer and excavators who regularly deal with complex construction projects. We have experience in all aspects of investigation and will provide seamless project management of a job from pre-excavation organisation, project management, agreements of work methodologies, fieldwork to post-excavation analysis, publication and release of planning conditions.
L – P : Archaeology always work closely with developers, local authorities, architects and environmental planners to create an archaeological programme that fits within the overall construction programme.
WATCHING BRIEF
A watching brief low-level requirement where an archaeologist monitors any intrusive groundwork or demolition on site. Our archaeologists will work closely with the construction manager to target tasks which need monitoring and thus minimise time spent on site.
EXCAVATION
Full excavation is used as a method of preservation by record. L – P : Archaeology’s integrated and methodical approach to on site excavation and recording will result in the product of a comprehensive written, drawn and photographic archive.
PRESERVATION IN SITU
In the unusual event that preservation in situ is deemed necessary, L – P : Archaeology can provide advice on design modifications so that impact on archaeology is avoided, without detracting away from the overall design of the development
