Merlin FAQ
The following are some frequently asked questions about the Merlin Data Broking service. For further enquiries about Merlin, please contact merlin@lparchaeology.com
- Who can access the online data?
Access to each project using the Merlin service is limited to those with valid user accounts and passwords. User accounts are created as part of the initial Merlin setup, and users can be added or deleted at any time.
- Is the online data secure?
Access to the system requires a username and 16-bit encrypted password. These usernames are unique for each project using the system. The system is hosted by HTTP over SSL, adding an additional level of site security.
- How often is the data updated?
Data is updated as often as required, with update notices sent to all Merlin users.
- What type of data can be shown online?
Merlin can show all forms of spatial data. This includes (but is not limited to) AutoCAD drawings, ESRI shapefiles, other vector data, digitial elevation models, LIDAR data, other georeferenced raster data.
- Can online data also be exported to paper maps?
Custom map views can be exported to pdf format within the standard Merlin functionality. For more complex mapping requirements, Merlin adminstrators can create advanced layouts and symbologies to satisfy all your mapping needs.
