Excavation
L ā P : Archaeology’s experienced team of project managers, field officers and excavators, deals regularly with complex construction projects. L – P work closely with the client providing expert archaeological project management, including:
- Pre-excavation planning (budget & timetable)
- Production of successful work methodology (WSI)
- Negotiation with local authority
- Coordination with scheme of works and contractors
- Provision & supervision of efficient archaeological field team
- Post-excavation analysis including in-house specialists
- Professional reports & archiving
Excavation will be part of an overall programme of archaeological investigation (see archaeology and planning guide), which may begin with a desk based assessment.
Excavation is used as a method of ‘preservation by record’. L ā Pās integrated and methodical approach to excavation and recording, results in the production of a comprehensive written, drawn and photographic archive
L – P’s project managers are Members of the Institute of Field Archaeologists (MIFA), and all projects are undertaken in accordance with IFA and SCAUM codes of conduct.
