White Hart Triangle

Apr 27, 2006 by Stuart Eve

Spanning 52 acres, White Hart Triangle is one of the largest distribution and business parks in the south east. Featuring around one million sq. ft. of warehouse, production and office accommodation, this landmark development occupies an ideal location at the heart of the Thames Gateway with superb access to the M25, central London and the proposed new Thames Gateway Bridge.

This £80million development undertaken by Tilfen Land was subject to archaeological works because of its location on the important prehistoric landscape of the East London marshes.

Working closely with the developer and English Heritage, L – P : Archaeology successfully agreed and implemented a complex scheme of geoarchaeological analysis, trial trenching and borehole exploration to investigate and record the Bronze Age horizons. The in-house creation of a digital model of the underlying alluvial and peat horizons, using GIS technology, enabled a clearer picture to be gained of the likely impact of the development proposals.

The scheme successfully minimsed impact to the development budget and schedule, whilst maximising the amount of archaeological information recovered.
