St Dunstans, Llandudno
Apr 14, 2010 by Blair Poole
L – P : Archaeology carried out a level 2/3 historic building survey at St Dunstans, Llandudno for St Dunstans Enterprises Ltd. The Grade ll Listed building, formally known as North Wales Medical Centre and more famously the Lady Foresters Convalescent Home, was a purpose built medical centre dating to 1902.
The survey was carried out to fulfil Conwy County Borough Council’s Grant of Listed Building Consent prior to the building’s conversion and extension into a respite care centre for blind ex-servicemen and their partners. The objective of the survey was to adequately record the structure prior to any material changes.
The standing building retained the majority of its original layout and features including two teak panelled spiral staircases and an ornate pitch pine panelled dining hall. The majority of the modifications to the standing building dated to between 1902 and 1912.
